Epoché is a free, multilingual library for reading the classics of philosophy and literature — Plato, Murasaki Shikibu, Shakespeare and thousands more. Ancient Greek, Classical Chinese, Latin and Old Japanese originals sit beside translations, with furigana, glosses and text-to-speech; graded readers and language courses get you started.
Every public work can be read free in the browser, with original-language texts alongside translations, natural text-to-speech narration, and optional AI reading assistance. The collection centres on philosophy and literature — together they are the great majority of the shelves — and extends into history, religion and the arts, drawn from the public domain and openly-licensed sources. Epoché also writes its own graded readers and beginner language courses, so a reader can work up to the originals.
