1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Epoche, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Service Description
Epoche is a multilingual AI-powered reading and research platform that provides document management, text-to-speech, AI assistant, translation tools, and collaborative features.
3. User Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must be at least 13 years old to use this service.
4. User Content
You retain ownership of content you upload. By uploading content, you grant Epoche a non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content as necessary to provide the service. You must not upload content that infringes on third-party rights.
5. Intellectual Property
The Epoche platform, including its design, features, and original content, is protected by intellectual property laws. Public domain works made available through the platform remain in the public domain.
6. Prohibited Use
You may not: (a) use the service for illegal purposes; (b) attempt to gain unauthorized access; (c) interfere with the service's operation; (d) scrape or harvest data; (e) impersonate others; (f) distribute malware or harmful content.
7. Subscription Plans and Free Trial
Epoche offers a free plan and paid Pro subscription plans (monthly and annual). New Pro subscribers receive a 14-day free trial. You may cancel the trial at any time before it ends without being charged. If not cancelled, your selected payment method will be automatically charged at the end of the trial.
8. Billing and Auto-renewal
Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle unless cancelled prior to renewal. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. By starting a paid subscription you authorise recurring charges to your payment method on file. Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude applicable taxes, which are calculated and added at checkout based on your billing location.
9. Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will retain access to Pro features until that date. Due to the digital nature of the service, we do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods. Japanese residents may refer to the 特定商取引法に基づく表記 page for statutory disclosures.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
Epoche is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated content, translations, or text-to-speech output.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Epoche shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
