DMCA Notice & Takedown Policy

Last updated: 2026-04-26

1. Designated Agent

Epoche complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512. To submit an infringement notice, contact our designated agent:

  • Email: support@epoche.app (subject line: DMCA Takedown Notice)
  • Postal address: 石上 貴大 (Takahiro Ishigami), 熊本県菊池郡大津町, Japan (street address provided on request once a notice is received).

2. Filing a Notice of Infringement

Your notice must include the following or it will not be actionable:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner (or a person authorised to act on their behalf).
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or a representative list, if multiple works at one site).
  3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing — including a URL on epoche.app or a stable identifier (work_id / document_id) so we can locate the content.
  4. Your contact information: full name, postal address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf.

3. What Happens After We Receive a Notice

We will (a) remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material expeditiously, (b) take reasonable steps to notify the user who posted it that we have removed it, and (c) forward your contact information so they can file a counter-notice if they believe the removal was in error.

4. Counter-Notice Procedure

If you believe your content was removed in error or as a result of misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice to the address above. A valid counter-notice must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and its location before removal.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district where your address is located (or, if outside the United States, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California), and that you will accept service of process from the original complainant.

5. Repeat-Infringer Policy

Epoche will, in appropriate circumstances, terminate the accounts of users who are repeat infringers of copyright. We may suspend access to disputed content pending the resolution of a dispute even before a court order is obtained.

6. Misrepresentation

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing — or that material was removed by mistake — may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. Please file notices in good faith.

7. Governing Law and Venue

Although Epoche is operated from Japan, this policy is offered to provide a clear takedown channel for U.S. copyright holders. For Japanese copyright matters, the procedures under the Copyright Act of Japan also apply and may be invoked in parallel.

8. Updates

We may update this policy when our corporate address or designated agent changes, or to reflect changes in applicable law. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
