Notice: Earthquake Drill — Friday 1 September To all staff, 1 September is Disaster Prevention Day in Japan. The date remembers the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1 September 1923, which destroyed large parts of Tokyo and Yokohama. On this day every year, offices and schools across the country practise for the next big earthquake. This building will hold its drill as follows. 10:00 — The alarm sounds, with a training announcement. Stop work, open the nearest door, and get under a desk. Hold the desk legs and stay there until the announcement ends. 10:05 — Leave by the stairs. Do not use the lifts. Helmets are in the grey cabinet beside each floor entrance. 10:20 — Assembly and roll call in Sakura Park, on the far side from the building. Section leaders report their numbers to the floor warden in the orange vest. 10:40 — Return to the office. Before work restarts, please check the emergency box under your desk: Tokyo asks companies to store three days of water and food for every worker, and bottles past their date will be replaced next week.
