Grandfather's Leather Socks — Epoche A1
15 December The water was very cold again this morning. Before the dawn prayer comes wudu: wash the hands, the face, the arms and the feet. Easy in summer. In December my feet hurt, and I go too fast. Today Grandfather showed me his soft leather socks. His way: one full wudu in the morning, then the socks go on over the clean feet. For the rest of the day he does not wash his feet again — wet hands pass over the top of the socks, and that is enough. One day and one night, he says. On a journey, three. Tonight the socks are ready by my bed.
