Finding Soi 18 on Sukhumvit Road — Epoche A1
8 March Bangkok. Today I looked for a friend's hotel on Sukhumvit Road. The address said Soi 18 — a soi is a small street off the big road. I started at Soi 7 and walked. Soi 9, Soi 11, Soi 13. Where was 18? A woman at a fruit cart laughed and pointed across the road. Odd numbers stand on one side, even numbers on the other side. And the two sides do not walk together. On the map, far down the road, Soi 55 stands across from Soi 38. I crossed, walked back, and there it was.
