The Heat Is Under the Floor — Epoche A1
Dear Yuna, We are in Seoul, in an old Korean house. It is minus five outside. Last night I looked for the bed — there is no bed! The lady gave us thick mats. You sleep on the floor here. And the floor is warm. The heat in a Korean home is under the floor, not on the wall. In this old house a fire once warmed the stones under the room. In new flats, pipes of hot water run under the floor. So the warmest place is the floor, and everyone sits on it. Shoes stay at the door, of course. It was so good for my back. Mina
