Cool Biz at 28 Degrees — Epoche A1
In June I started a new job in Osaka. On the first Monday: dark suit and tie. It was 30 degrees outside. In the office, nobody had a tie. Kimura-san looked at me and smiled. "Cool Biz," he said. He explained. In summer the air conditioner uses a lot of power. So from May to the end of September the office sets it at 28 degrees — not cold. And because 28 degrees is warm, the clothes rule changes too: no jacket, no tie, a light shirt is fine. The machine stays at 28; the people change. Now my tie stays at home until October.
