Hanbok Goes In Free at Gyeongbokgung — Epoche A1
Last Saturday I went to Gyeongbokgung, the old palace in Seoul. At the gate I stopped. Hundreds of people stood in the yard in beautiful Korean dresses — long skirts, short jackets, ribbons. Men too, in blue and red coats. A festival, I thought. Maybe a film! Then I saw the sign at the ticket window. A ticket is 3,000 won. But a person in hanbok — the full Korean dress — goes in free. The streets around the palace are full of shops that rent hanbok for a few hours. So every day looks like a festival here. It was no festival. It was the price of a ticket.
