Forty-Five Lines, Not Eighty-One — Epoche A1
7 September My niece is in grade two, and tonight she said her times table to me, out loud, very fast. I counted the lines on her card. Forty-five. Not eighty-one! Then I saw why. Two threes and three twos are the same, so the card says it once, with the small number first: "two three, six". Nothing goes the other way. One more rule: when the answer is under ten, an extra word goes in the middle — "two three 得 six". Ten or more, no extra word: "seven eight, fifty-six".
