A Wall of Lockers by the Gate — Epoche A1
Where do your parcels go? Not to my door. In my compound in Hangzhou, the courier puts the parcels in a wall of small lockers by the gate. A code comes to the phone. At the locker I press six numbers, one little door opens, and there is the parcel. Big parcel? Then it goes to the parcel shop next to the gate, and the man finds it by the last four numbers of your phone. Yesterday the wall held maybe two hundred parcels. People came home from work, phones out, small doors open, one after one. Fast? Yes. But the courier and I never meet.
