Three Shops in Singapore, and No Chewing Gum — Epoche A1
Day 2 in Singapore: I cannot find chewing gum. Shop 1, near the hotel. No gum. Shop 2, at the station. No gum. Shop 3, a big supermarket. Sweets, yes. Gum, no. So I asked the shopkeeper. She smiled. Since 1992 gum cannot be brought into the country to sell, she said. So the shops do not have it. A pharmacist, the person who sells medicine, can give you gum for your teeth, or gum to stop smoking. That came in later years. But you cannot just buy a packet. One small rule, and three shops with no gum. #Singapore
