Minutes: Ganesh Festival Committee Date: Sunday, 10 August Place: Shanti Society, Pune 1. Money Decided: each of the 18 flats gives 300 rupees — 5,400 rupees for the tent, lights, flowers and priest. 2. The idol Decided: clay, not plaster. On the last day the idol goes into water. Clay goes soft and returns to the earth; plaster stays hard for years. 3. The ten days The idol sits in the tent for ten days, with a prayer every evening. On day ten, all flats walk with it to the immersion tank. The city fills these tanks so the idols do not go into the river. Next meeting: 24 August.
