Papel Picado: Fifty Flags at Once — Epoche A1
Fiesta update! 🎉 It is 15 May, San Isidro, and the music starts at six. The problem this morning: not enough papel picado for the trees. Lucía said, "Take scissors and cut some more." Scissors! The man at the market stall laughed at us. Papel picado is not cut with scissors. The maker puts up to fifty sheets of thin paper in one pile and cuts through all of them at one time, with a hammer and small chisels. Look at a pack: every flag has the same picture. Now you know why. Fifty flags from one cutting. So now we only have to hang them. Send ladders! 🙌
