The Word 'Boulangerie' Is a Law — Epoche A1
Dear Ana, I am in Annecy for six days. Thank you for your card. Here is something useful for your holiday. Two shops on the same street sell bread. One has the word boulangerie on the window. The other one says only "bread and cakes". That word is a law in France. A shop can write boulangerie only if the bread is made and baked inside, in that shop. If it arrives frozen from a factory, the shop must use a different word. So I walk 200 metres further. The baguette is 1 euro 20 and it is still warm at eight in the morning. Your friend, Léa
