Six on One Hand at the Xi'an Market — Epoche A1
Dear Anna, Hello from Xi'an! This morning I was at the market near the Drum Tower. It is loud. Everybody talks at the same time. I pointed at a bag of red dates and asked the price. The seller did not speak. She put out her thumb and her little finger. That is a sign: six. Six yuan. Here every number to ten has a hand sign, so people show prices with one hand. A bent first finger is nine. A closed hand is ten. Now I count on one hand too. Love, Mei
